Karen – Elite Lead Stylist

In August of 2001, I graduated from The Regency Beauty Academy (where I met Joanie) and became a certified cosmetologist. Since then I have worked at two different Spa Salons in St. Cloud, MN before coming to J Amelias. I have picked up fun, new and different techniques with my continuous education going to Hair Shows from Minneapolis, Fargo and finally to Chicago. I have taken a hands-on class with Wayne Grund where I was taught the different techniques of razor cutting. I am a certified Eufora Stylist and have worked with the following product lines: Matrix, Redken, Nioxin, and Wayne Grund.
I have a passion for hair and fashion and am always ready for a new trend. My greatest skills include: listening; working with thick hair; transforming feet from old to new. I'm happy to be a part of the J Amelias team and look forward to meeting everyone that comes into the salon.

Joanie Wegman – Salon Owner and Executive Stylist

I received my degree in hair, skin and nails from the St. Cloud Regency Academy. From there I worked hard to receive enough hours to test and receive my managers license so that I could work independently and get my first taste of owning a business. During those years I trained with Farouk Chi Masters in color to become a color specialist in our color line. I enjoyed attending the Chicago and Minneapolis Hair Shows which are a 3 day training we go to every year to update all of our clients in what we have learned for the new year. I became an Elite certified member of Eufora, which is our exclusive organic product line. White Sands company of California, our other product line, invited me to be a show artist with them at the last hair show and to travel all around the world, but unfortunately, with the new salon, it was the wrong timing. J Amelia's keeps me busy – we are an education salon which includes an apprenticeship program for stylists with under 2 years experience – I love to teach and see them come alive!

As an educated stylist, I have created several cutting techniques and haircuts which include the Pyramid Cut and the Upside-down Bob. With 11 years under my belt, you will not be disappointed with what I can do for your new look, I want to bring out what is inside and have it match who you are on the outside.

I love people and genuinely care about your hair. What interests me most is the ability to give you advice on your hair and to bring about a change from boring to beautiful hair and makeup. If the cuts or colors we have to do just lack that creative edge, we get bored...so come in and let us transform you! It's just what we love to do!
